The plan of an article is a part of the business plan. The business plan is a master plan, which all marketing actions must follow. However, the separate marketing actions, like one article, can have a special job to do.
1. To Whom You Want To Talk To?
An author must have an idea about the typical target person. About his or her age, sex, education, salary, living place, but especially about his way to use the product or service, which you offer. What wants and needs he has? Why would he choose your product? Is the timing somehow special?
It is clear, that a marketer can not have a full user profile, but he can judge a lot about the competitor offers and from his own experience. And very often the offer will find the persons, who are interested about it at that very moment.

A simple question, why do you want to write to the target audience? The purpose can be to keep the awareness high or to offer something special. Or whatever your creativity has created. The internet surfers are busy people and require a purpose, because only that can make them to act.
3. What Benefits Do You Offer?
People are not willing to read long stories, if they cannot get any benefit about it. You can have a benefit already in the article or you can give a hint about the benefit, which you show on the landing page.
4. What Do You Want The Readers To Do?
The actions are, what make the marketing to work. The reader must have an idea, that quickly something nice will happen and I will get the benefit, which I have been looking for. The article content from the title to the author box must be planned so, that the reader has an interest to click the link in the author box.
5. 4 Step Planning Is Quick To Do.
Many creative authors hate the content planning, because that is something, which does not belong to the creative work, or so they think. However, like this 4 step plan, the content planning is easy to do. And when the menu of the content has been planned, the subconscious starts to work and the content will get more ideas and quality.
Because nothing useful will never happen by accident, the articles must be planned. A marketer can make a rough plan about the articles for the whole year, if he wants. The themes of the articles can be planned early before a single article is written.
This plan can include the keyword family planning, the target audience plan and the theme planning. After this medium term plan has been created it is easy to write a single article. And all articles will support the business plan.
